The Community Foundation connects people who care with causes that matter. The Foundation manages over 150 funds, which address a variety of local needs. Three steering funds which address general needs in the communities we serve are detailed below. We also have numerous special interest funds. If you would like to know more about any of our funds, the Foundation staff is available to work with you to identify charitable organizations and causes that need help.
Community Partnership Fund: An endowed fund established in 1994. Its principal remains intact while the income is available for general grant making as needs are identified. The Board on its own initiative can award a grant. In addition, grant applications from 501(c)(3) nonprofits are considered throughout the year and paid upon approval. The proceeds of the Foundation’s year-end appeal are credited to this fund.
Community Enhancement Fund: Established as an endowed fund in 2018 to celebrate the Foundation’s 35th Anniversary, this fund is a hybrid fund because 10% of the fund’s balance (principal and income) is awarded annually to programs or projects that enhance Rochester, Rochester Hills and/or Oakland Township. The term enhance is intentionally vague to give grant seekers the opportunity to be creative. The recipients are announced and recognized at the Tailgate.
Community Response Fund: In 2020, the Foundation established this fund to address needs caused by the COVID-19 crisis. The Fund continues to address emergency community needs caused by unexpected events or crises, including food insecurity, mental health initiatives, and disaster relief.

Over the years, the Women's Fund has consistently given to the Assistance League of SE MI in support of Assault Survivor Kits. Any time a woman goes to the hospital as the result of reporting an assault, her clothes become evidence. Each Assault Survivor kit provides new clothing and toiletries for survivors of abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault.
